Back in early 2015, the UKBGF Board set out an ambitious list of objectives for their two-year term. The full list is here and we’re delighted to say that one of our most important, to reach a membership of 250, was passed in mid-April, nine months ahead of schedule. A big welcome aboard for member number 250, Linda Taylor, and for everyone else who has joined up!
Perhaps surprisingly, just 219 of our members are located in the UK – the remainder are scattered across fourteen other countries and three continents, our most distant member being Grant Hoffman in New Zealand! Londoners are heavily represented with 73 members in the capital; there are clusters of members around our more established club, and we’re pleased to see almost every corner of the UK is represented at least once.
The Board’s task is now to keep our 250 members and increase that number – the more members we have, the more we can do for them. Already we have 1,225 people in the UKBGF Ratings, 931 people like the UKBGF on Facebook and 495 on Twitter – so there’s plenty of potential for us to grow, not including all our efforts in encouraging more people to discover and get hooked on the game! Over the coming months we’ll be doing more surveys to find out what you, the membership, would like to see more of and what would encourage our readers who are not members to take the plunge and sign up – and that information will help this and the next Board set the objectives for 2017-8 and onwards. And if there’s anything you’d particularly like us to be doing, member or not, please do get in touch! We’re here for you and we want to be doing what you appreciate.
Onwards to 300!
