We hope you’ve had a great Christmas break and are looking forward to a cracking season of backgammon ahead. There’s one unfinished piece of business from 2016, though – our Online Charity Challenge has reached its final stage…
I am delighted to announce that the 2017 London Open backgammon tournament will take place from 26th-28th May at Henrietta Barnett School in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London NW11. The M1 is just 10 minutes away by car, and there is free on street parking readily available in the area. So with good public transport links nearby (Golders Green station is less than 15 minutes by tube from Euston and is also a stop on the air coach links from Stansted and Luton) everyone should find it easy to get to, whatever their means of transport.
We’re delighted to announce the schedule for the UKBGF Tour 2017, which you can find here. After a number of this year’s events were fully subscribed and with waiting lists for places, we’ve got a bigger schedule this time that also takes us to four more destinations across the country: Bradford, Winchester, Newcastle and Worcester. Do register early and make sure you don’t miss out on the ones you want!
In 2016, we ran our first Online Championship. Seventy-two of you took up the challenge, and after 279 matches Jacek Wojciechowski took the inaugural title, a nice trophy and a free Grandmaster lesson. And now it’s back – and bigger and better!
