Anna Price wrote to me late last night announcing her withdrawal from the election for the Board of the UKBGF.
Anna’s name will remain on the ballot but votes cast for her will not count. In the event of Anna being in the top 7 at the end of the election process we will take the 8th placed finisher and put them on the Board.
I said to Anna in my email accepting her resignation:
‘The vast majority of backgammon players are great people. There are a small minority who can make life very, very difficult for the rest of us. I, personally, do think that bad behaviour can disproportionately affect women and that we as a community need to take tougher action. As you have noted, Richard Biddle is leading the way on this and we have much to learn from him. I am sorry to learn of your withdrawal and hope that you will continue to contribute to the backgammon community in different ways as you have much to offer.’
