Over 140 players attended the UK Open at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry over the weekend of 19-21st September. The tournament was ably directed by John Wright and Phil Tutchings, with assistance from Ian Tarr. The consensus of the majority of players was that the event was a great success, and the question I was asked most frequently was “When’s the next one?”

The UKBGF has been invited to select players to represent the UK in two International Online backgammon competitions taking place this year. The UKBGF committee has nominated rising UK backgammon star Eric McAlpine as the UK Team Captain and Selector, and we are delighted that Eric has accepted this challenge.
