We are in the process of drawing up the calendar for 2020 and we are looking for bids for organising the UKBGF’s flagship events…
The UK Clubs Championship 2020
In 2019 the Clubs Championship moved to York under the direction of Keith Gill, Roger Porter and Martin Barkwill, and for the first time had an associated individual event the day before. We are now looking for potential hosts for 2020. If you would be interested in putting a bid forward, please contact the UKBGF Board as soon as possible by email to email@example.com , and in any case bids must be received no later than 31st October.
An individual event is not necessary for a successful bid, and the Board are particularly keen to maintain the flavour of the tournament as a social event, welcoming to less experienced players. All aspects of bids will be considered, in particular the venue, the proposed tournament format and the capacity of the event.
The UK Tour 2020
We are also open to bids for tournaments to be part of the UK Tour 2020. The Tour Sub-Committee have already been in touch with existing Tour event organisers and potential new ones who have already made themselves known to us, but there is still time to put yourself forward – both existing established events which has not been on the Tour before, and completely new events, will be considered. If you are interested, please contact the sub-committee via firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, and in any event no later than the 14th October, for more details.
And on to 2021…
We will in due course be looking for bids for the various 2021 events. If you’d like to find out more or discuss any aspects of running events in more detail, please do get in touch either by the email above, or have a chat with any of the Board. The UKBGF has a stock of equipment which can be borrowed to assist with the running of an event, including boards, dice, clocks, merchandise and stationery.
If you’d like to gain experience of what it’s like to be behind the TD’s desk, with a view to a future bid, then several of our existing TDs will be only too pleased to show you the ropes; again, just get in touch!
