August 29-31 (Bank Holiday Weekend)
HURRY – REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 23.59 ON THURSDAY 27TH AUGUST!
The UKBGF in association with Arda Findikoglu is proud to present the 2020 UK Open online. This will be part of an online UK backgammon extravaganza during August, to include the UK Legends Invitational, all organised and directed by Arda. The initial ‘priority period’ for UKBGF member registrations ends at midnight BST on 22nd July. Registrations from non-members will then be accepted, but places are limited to 128 in each flight. See tournament flyers above and below for more details.
A list of registered players for all flights can be found here.
Please note in particular that the clock settings in both Masters and Intermediate flights are one minute per point plus 10 seconds delay throughout. If your time runs out you will automatically lose the match and any appeal or claim of unawareness is likely to fail.
Registration
If you are not a current UKBGF member, you may still register during the priority period if you join (or renew your membership) here first. To reserve your place, please email ukbgopen@yahoo.com before making any cash transfer, stating whether you wish to play in the Masters or Intermediate flight. You must register by the deadline of 23.59 on Thursday 27th August. If you are in time, you will be sent a confirmation email with payment instructions.
Prizes
Prizes for the first 4 places will be awarded irrespective of UKBGF membership status. The Geoffrey Parker Professional Roll-up board will be specially made and will be delivered some time after the event (dependent on workshop production schedules). As indicated above, an additional prize of a bespoke P-40 board will be awarded to the highest paced UKBGF member in BOTH Masters and Intermediate flights. The lucky recipients of these prizes will be able to order P-40 boards in their chosen colours, which will be delivered at no cost to them!
If both finalists in the Intermediate flight are UKBGF members, the winner may be offered a choice of boards (so that two boards are not won by a single player). This will be clarified before the tournament begins. Notwithstanding this proviso, deals between finalists are of course always permitted.
