Jangler is thrilled to announce the next wave of bootcamps, following the resounding success of our recent sessions in London and Warrington (group photo above). These intensive weekends are a premier Jangler initiative, specifically designed to help players of all levels deconstruct and sharpen specific areas of their game.
As part of a dedicated commitment to growing the game, Jangler has proudly sponsored UKBGF Intermediate players this year to the tune of over £7,000, ensuring our community has the resources to move from casual play to competitive mastery.

The Winning Formula
Each Bootcamp utilises a multi-layered teaching approach that has proven highly effective for everyone from novices to Master-level players:
1. Theory: Comprehensive presentations and introductions to the concepts by Andy Darby.
2. Breakouts: Small-group sessions where tutors dive deep into specific scenarios, allowing for interactive play and real-time feedback.
3. Pro Analysis: Each day concludes with a live match between the four tutors, featuring a running commentary that explains the “why” behind every move and cube decision.
Inside the Bootcamp: A Player’s Perspective
Mike Snowdon, who attended our Bootcamp North in Warrington alongside 22 other participants, shared his experience: “The weekend was flawlessly organised by Andy Darby. With experts Tim Cross, Radu Ciortan, and Pete Heskett on hand, the level of insight was excellent. I’d simply urge anyone looking to improve to sign up for the next batch of events.”
The curriculum covered the critical “inflection points” of a match, including:
● Opening Strategy: When (and when not) to split back checkers.
● Anchor Management: Playing into and deciding when to break a high anchor.
● Stay or Go: When to leave an anchor.
● Cube Handling: Doubling decisions against high anchors and in pure racing
positions.
Andy Darby added: “The enthusiasm and hard work of the participants made it a really successful weekend. We’ve taken all the feedback on board to ensure the upcoming Scotland, London, and Midlands sessions are the best yet.”
