Backgammon – Somehow it looked… glorious
A magnificently run UK Open absorbed all who partook with wall to wall action and the addicts making over 20 trips to the scorer’s hut.
David wins Harrogate Open
Last weekend David Sharp won the 2026 Harrogate Open, beating Pat Brooks (in his second consecutive UK Tour final).
Again featuring on the UKBGF tour, 61 players made the journey to Harrogate for a full weekend of backgammon, starting with the traditional Friday evening warm up. Harrogate club member Jim Majka made it to the final in his first experience of tournament play but lost out to Becca Bell.
Another inter-club match is up and running
Another two clubs have started to organise regular matches. For the second time, Cambridge and East Kent met up at the Clissold Arms in North London at the weekend.
Last year Cambridge won the match involving eight players for each club, but this year that was extended to 10 players, with East Kent gaining revenge after five rounds of seven-point matches. The first round was paired based on ratings and then randomly drawn for subsequent matches.
Backgammon Hub’s Daily Puzzle generation
The Hub daily puzzle has been a fixture of the site for two or three years, and attracts 100-150 players every day. I’ve just added another 550 puzzles and thought people might be interested in how they’re produced.
