Backgammon doubles: your chance to play with the pros

This is the last call for Intermediates to sign up to this year’s doubles development league.

Think you’ve had your go? Think again. Even if you participated last year, you’re entitled to enter again.

This is a UKBGF initiative to provide high-quality competition with a development pathway for aspiring intermediate players. The league was created to give them the chance to compete in a structured, high-level environment while learning directly from some of the UK’s strongest and most experienced players.

Before we get into the exciting launch of our 2026 Doubles League, we have some massive news to share. We are absolutely thrilled to announce the winner of our highly anticipated women’s sponsorship opportunity.

We were completely blown away to receive 30 applications, all of an incredibly high standard, which meant our selection panel had an exceptionally difficult job making their final decision.

Geoff Hall appointed UK online captain

 Chris Rogers’ term as UK captain extended by one year

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Geoff Hall as the captain of the UK online team. Chris Rogers remains the captain for the team taking part in the WBIF World Team Championship where our players have achieved an outstanding average PR of 2.86 at the time of writing.

However, Geoff will take over following completion of this event and for the Magriel Cup taking place this weekend.  Geoff, noted for his flamboyant shirts, has served as a UKBGF board member, is a past winner of the Gibraltar Open and delivered a comfortable victory in the recent online friendly match against Germany.

UKBGF online league and events – a year in review, a year ahead

On behalf of the UKBGF as well as David Potter, Tony Lezard, and myself, a huge thanks for all your support for the UKBGF Online League, from its conception in late 2020 to today. As we have always said, this is “your” league and one to take pride in and enjoy. It is by far the largest online league in the world and now boasts nearly 400 players from all corners of the globe.
