The UKBGF are committed to promoting the growth of backgammon at all levels and improving the experience for existing players in terms of playing and development opportunities.
In line with this, a recent UKBGF initiative has been to develop a set of Neurodiversity Guidelines, which you can download here. This is intended for use by Tournament Directors and the wider backgammon community to enhance, wherever possible, the experience of people who may currently find it a challenge playing at some of our clubs or tournaments.
The document is intended as a guideline rather than a strict set of rules as it may not be possible or practical to implement all items. Rather, the guideline should be viewed as an opportunity to invite open dialogue on how to improve accessibility to all members of our community.
The document will be stored on the UKBGF website as part of ‘Backgammon Resources’ alongside the Code of Conduct. As always, we welcome any constructive feedback you might have.
We are also in the process of reconstituting the Disability and Diversity sub-committee. Their remit shall be to liaise with all of our membership and outside bodies with a view to investigating issues that affect players in both live and online play, making recommendations to the Board to adopt new standards and guidelines, and promoting good practice in all UK clubs and tournaments. If you would like to be involved, then please get in touch via contact@ukbgf.com.
