Last weekend David Sharp won the 2026 Harrogate Open, beating Pat Brooks (in his second consecutive UK Tour final).
Again featuring on the UKBGF tour, 61 players made the journey to Harrogate for a full weekend of backgammon, starting with the traditional Friday evening warm up. Harrogate club member Jim Majka made it to the final in his first experience of tournament play but lost out to Becca Bell.
Eight pairs entered the Saturday evening doubles event, with Roland Archer and Denby Pettitt the winners.
The final of the consolation was played between Manchester club members Sean Cheung (winner) and Andrew Bak (runner up).
Mike Ireland won the Last Chance, beating Aniel Ciobanu in the final.
Ruth Hibbert won the ‘Wooden Spoon’ knockout event on the Sunday.

Plans for the 2027 Harrogate Open are underway, with the event likely to be between the 14th and 16th May at the Manhattan Club, who have been fantastic hosts for the past four years.
