Congratulations to Ian Davidson on winning the gold section of our unique event.
Ian has been a loyal supporter of our tournament, a previous runner up in 2023 and a runner-up already of this year’s TWI Masters event. He’s on top form already – so the man to beat/fear. He also wins 800 points towards the Tour Winners Invitational.
And congratulations to the runner-up – a smiling Dave Pritchard who won this event in 2024 and came so close in attempting to make it a double.
We had a full entry of 64 players and very few dropped out (to the annoyance of the many players on the reserve list). That was until the Friday morning with two players falling ill; I’d like to thank Cristi Cozos and Fraya Dravern for stepping in literally at the final hour.
I also had two players from the local Bridlington club who would stand in at late notice if anyone dropped out on the Saturday. So a special thank you to Paul and Sarah for making themselves available. They both popped in on the Saturday to soak up the atmosphere.

Forty five players took part in the Friday Warm Up which commenced at 8pm, 4 more than in 2024.
The 32 player Dal Negro board knock-out event was full too at this stage, so it was great to see so many people registered, present and playing.
On Saturday morning players were fully up to speed with our eight tables of eight format (along with visual display boards).
I have plans to fully automate the system for 2026. This will mean I can print out the 1-64 order as soon as the last result for each round is inputted. The majority of the players already had a guide as to which 16 player group they would end up playing in on the Sunday but the new system will speed up the final order process. I do love a good spreadsheet.
Despite a falling out between two players who shall remain nameless, It is paramount that all players read up and know the UKBGF rules on play and etiquette. A simple lack of knowledge and not asking for guidance meant it got out of hand.
I would also like to thank Rosalie Johnson who at the end of play on Sunday evening collected all the empty drink cups and placed them on the table provided. It didn’t go unnoticed. It’s a reminder to all the players who should have done their own housekeeping.
Play completed at 17:50, 10 minutes before the advertised 6pm so It was great to see we have our event timings spot on this year.
