Travel from London Heathrow Airport

You are likely to arrive in London at Heathrow Airport (LHR). While an Uber or taxi will certainly get you to the venue, it will be expensive! It will be more affordable to take the Tube. The most direct option is the Piccadilly Line to Earl’s Court station and walk for about 13 minutes. Google Maps is your friend. The whole journey should take about 50 minutes.

You might be able to shave off a few minutes by taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington station and then the District Line to West Brompton station. This will shorten your walking distance to about 4 minutes.

Staying in London

You have a number of options for where you can stay in London during the World Team and Individual Backgammon championships.

At the Mercure/Ibis Hotel

This is the venue where the tournament will be played. These are two hotels in the same building with slightly different pricing and room styles.

We have negotiated special rates for these hotels as detailed below.

However! You may be able to book lower “Stay Longer & Save” rates, which:

• Are flexible
• Exclude breakfast
• Are subject to strict conditions and availability

For the UKBGF rates, please note:

• Any incidental or extra charges incurred during the stay are to be settled directly by the guests.
• These rates apply to 21st – 30th August only. Breakfast is included in all rates.

Upon confirmation, a secure payment link will be sent to the guest, and payment must be completed within 72 hours to secure the reservation; otherwise, the reservation will be automatically cancelled.

Imperial College Venues

During July to September, Imperial College opens its student halls of residence to provide great-value accommodation for groups of all sizes. Their Prince’s Gardens residences are 25 minutes away on the Piccadilly Line.
