
It was a top performance by the Aberdeen Backgammon Club as they secured the top two places in the inaugural Scotland Women’s Tournament.
Thirteen players from across the country – Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling, Ayr and Edinburgh – gathered at the Victoria Bar in Leith, Edinburgh at the end of August.
Brenda Rafferty (pictured right) went undefeated in the four-round, 7-point match tournament, with Anita Martin coming second on points difference. The event was hosted by Karen Slawek (left) who runs the Edinburgh Club and is the recently-appointed captain of the Scottish women’s team.
