After the formation of the Worcester backgammon club over twelve years ago we wanted to get involved in promoting the game by helping to increase the number of tournaments. At the time, there was a perfect opening between Christmas and New Year, it was decided that this was a great time for a tournament that would attract a lot of people and was an opportunity for a fun, Christmas based, Charitable Tournament.

On Saturday 8^th of April, the bunnies congregated at the Royal British Legion Club in Cornmeadow Lane, Worcester.  The new home of Worcester Backgammon Club has now hosted several tournaments and for this we are grateful.  The Turkey, Intermediate, Turkey Earthquake Appeal and now the Bunny Bash (NB. “Bash” in no way suggests cruelty to rabbits, but refers to a party!)  Apologies for the ‘woke’ statement!

Santa has been, he is now resting at the North Pole and the world is wondering what is to come next.  The majority are waiting for the traditional last day of the year celebration turning into the New Year.  But for a few enlightened farmyard creatures there is a highlight yet to come between the highs of Christmas and New Year.  The Turkeys and the Chicks are less stupid than their reputations suggest.  They are filling the gap between the 25th December 2022 and 1st January 2023 with the classic board game, backgammon.  The eighth annual Worcester Backgammon Club Turkey Tourney 2022 was to be held on the 28th December at Claines Royal British Legion Club for these special creatures, a place large enough to pen all the Turkeys and the Chicks in relative comfort and with good light.
