When I was a very young boy and before I knew the meaning of exponential, I was obsessed with the numeric progression 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, etc. Such was my obsession that when I walked across the pattern on my front room carpet, or the floorboards in the hall, or the cracks in the pavement outside or by my mum’s side on the walk to school – every section I walked had to be completed in either 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 steps. My mum threatened me with a child psychologist to sort out my illness as I obviously had St. Vitus’ Dance!
Two new articles for you! Colin Saunders recalls his early days in Ealing in From Novice to Neophyte – with some valuable insights for club organisers too. And Anna Price uncovers some rather exclusive goings-on in One Night In St Albans.
Meanwhile – now open to all, not just members, is our Flickr site. Go on and take a look through albums from the UK Open, the British Backgammon Awards, and the European Team Championships in Budapest. More will be coming in due course – do keep an eye out, and if you have any pictures you’d like the world to see just drop me a line at julia@ukbgf.com…
