Special rating tournament
A special, one-off tournament where players will have their matches recorded, transcribed and analysed will be held in Berwick-upon-Tweed in November.
The BMAB (Backgammon Masters Awarding Body) tournament will be held over the weekend of November 15-16 and will be open to 20 players* on a first-come, first-served basis. (*This could be extended to 24 players.)
The event has been organised by NEBA’s Keith Gill and has been supported by the UKBGF to encourage the development of players.

Jones at the double in Harrogate
Kevin Jones recently won the 2025 Harrogate Open, beating late entrant Garry Jones in the final.
Featuring on the UKBGF tour for the first time, 64 players made the journey to Harrogate for a full weekend of backgammon. The weekend began with a Friday night warm up which was won by Alexander Pelling-Bruce who beat Neil Webb in the final.

Gabriel’s Sledgehammer
It was another terrific show by Selbs, David and Jill, although they’ll admit they were short of at least one Oompa Loompa, as the players could be as childlike and capricious as ever, with David too accommodating to the Augustus Gloops and Veruca Salts of this world. [Read more…]
