On a gorgeous Spring day in the heart of London, 64 Intermediate players found their way from all over the country to The Ambassador Bloomsbury Hotel to play in the next stage of the prestigious UKBGF Tour. A seat at the Tour Winners Invitational 2024 awaited the ultimate winner, with lots of supporting points for those looking to remain in contention for further places.
Supported by a further 44 players in the Open event, running at the same time, David, Jill, and Andrew of Backgammon London played host while Aydin Kolcak was on hand to add support and promotion of our 2023 Sponsor, Artgammon, for whom 4 wonderful boards were on offer to the winners of the Intermediate events.
With a traditional 64 player knock-out in the main event, plus a further Consolation and Last Chance, three titles were there to be won.
As London basked in sunshine, ultimately, so did our Champions.
… as the drumroll beats, our Winner of the Main Event is … David Tulip !

David defeated Becca Bell in a hard-fought final , graciously played out and for both a Sponsors Board , but for David the valuable Tour Winners Invitation will be coming through the post from Steve Bibby later this year.

In the Consolation,vPaul Moulton defeated a hugely excited Paul Ryb, surpassing his own expectations, to win a further Artgammon board.

The final board, and title of Last Chance Winner was Hannah Parente, who defeated Aniel Ciobanu.

While the “main event” was ongoing , the supporting Open event , including some of the great and the good of UK backgammon fought out a double-eliminator event.
After 8 gruelling rounds ,Danny De Meester, undefeated throughout, deservedly collected the first prize, in a “gentleman’s” final with David Brown.

Huge congratulations to all, and thanks from David, Jill, and me as ever for your continued support.
See you all at The UK Open !
