Welcome to the official website of the new UK Backgammon Federation (UKBGF). At last, our very own Federation through which we can bring more and better backgammon to the nation. Take a look around the site to learn more about the UKBGF and our plans for the future. You can also register now for the first major event under the UKBGF umbrella, the UK Backgammon Open, to be held in September 2014.
All of us have ideas about how to go forward from here, but nothing is set in stone. Additional tournaments, beginner tuition, backgammon workshops, a national ratings system, standardised rules, more leagues, inter-club competitions – all these things and more are up for discussion. By September next year we hope to invite all UK players to join the Federation, with membership offering a range of benefits. Subsequently it is intended that UKBGF officials will be elected by the membership.
What suggestions do you have about the future of the UKBGF? We look forward to reading your comments below.

Congratulations and good luck on this venture. The USBGF has had an enormous, positive influence on backgammon in the U.S. and I am sure your organization will do the same for UK.
I strongly urge your organization to get in close contact with the leaders of other federations and work towards the formation of an international organization. So much work and effort is being duplicated in each country that could be done for the benefit of all. We need an international organization for standardization of rules and policy, for international competition, and for joint marketing and sponsorship. The whole is far bigger than the parts is we join together.
Thanks very much for your message Phil.
I hope we will be able to work closely with other national federations once we have found our feet. Our website has only just gone live and at the moment we have no structure, apart from the core organising team, and no members!
However the messages of support from yourself, from other prominent figures in the world backgammon community, and of course from many players in the UK (on social media and elsewhere) are extremely encouraging. We will certainly take note of your suggestions as we move forward.
